Karnataka chief minister D.K. Shivakumar met an Anthropic delegation to explore a long-term partnership covering governance, higher education, healthcare, research, and the state's startup base, The Economic Times reported. Talks include Claude certification under the NIPUNA skilling push, a possible 100-day roadmap with milestones, and subsidised Claude access for institutions such as VTU. Eleven industry and patient groups have urged Health Minister J.P. Nadda to rethink the draft Drugs, Medical Devices and Cosmetics Bill, 2026, arguing it still regulates medical devices, including AI-enabled diagnostics, as if they were pharmaceuticals. A Nature paper by Kasirzadeh and Gabriel, published Aug. 12, proposes agentic profiles that score AI agents on autonomy, efficacy, goal complexity, and generality. The taxonomy aims to make governance debates less one-size-fits-all as agents gain tools and longer horizons. That matters while regulators lack shared agent-risk vocabulary.
