Indian banks and ministries do not want their prompts taking a vacation abroad. Anthropic says Claude will soon run in-country inference in India through Amazon Bedrock, so requests on the India endpoint stay on servers inside the country. Economic Times reports the company framed it as the gap between pilots and production for regulated buyers in banking, insurance, and government. OpenAI and Google already sell local processing here. Anthropic is playing catch-up with residency, not inventing the category. Still, for Claude shops in India, the data map just got simpler.
